Our 40+ groups for 2019 have been another great success. All of the students showed enthusiasm and appreciation for the wide range of activities on offer, from the cultural Art Deco guided walk to wine-tasting to beautiful walks through native bush to stunning waterfalls. We are lucky that Hawkes Bay offers such an array of opportunities to explore various aspects of the region, and students are inevitably delighted with what they see and do – the 360-degree view of Hawkes Bay from Te Mata Peak, the honey-tasting at Arataki Honey with its fascinating displays and success story of producing world-renowned honey that also boasts the UMF: the unique manuka factor, now being used in hospitals for its anti-bacterial properties. And don’t forget tree-planting and exploring the night sky at the planetarium. These fit, lively 50-60-somethings enjoy everything from the cultural to the physical to the sensory. 2019 has been no exception and we are delighted to have introduced yet another experience: cheese-tasting at Origin Earth, with its fabulous range of handcrafted, organic cheeses. Beautiful sunny weather has been the icing on the cake.
